Swamp with Water Lilies
This work was inspired by my love for what I'm surrounded by in Houma, Louisiana. There is just something empowering about cypress trees and their ability to grow regardless of their situation. I really admire their character, strength and beauty. In this painting I wanted to show just how intertwined strength and beauty are in this delicate balancing act of life. Take time out of your day to notice the little moments through your journey in life and not just the destination.

I paint in an impasto style using oil paint with palette/painting knives. Painting with palette knives allow a freedom I never enjoyed with brushes. I'm drawn to New Orleans cityscapes and Louisiana landscapes. I'm inspired by the vibrant vivid colors and heavy textures achieved with this three dimensional painting style. I enjoy capturing a view that I would enjoy spending a couple of hours in front of, taking in all the flavor of my surrounding.
