Sunday Morning Post

from $125.00

This work is inspired inspired by my love of the French Quarter in New Orleans, Louisiana. Nola's is full of incredible architecture and some of my favorite parts are the porches that flank it's streets. Hand carved moldings front the facades of their cottages like icing on cake. These porches are not only the landing pads for welcoming neighbors and friends but they’re also the welcome mat for that Sunday morning papers’ toss.

I paint in an impasto style using oil paint with palette/painting knives. Painting with palette knives allow a freedom I never enjoyed with brushes. I'm drawn to New Orleans cityscapes and Louisiana landscapes. I'm inspired by the vibrant vivid colors and heavy textures achieved with this three dimensional painting style. I enjoy capturing a view that I would enjoy spending a couple of hours in front of, taking in all the flavor of my surrounding.
