WHO is 'MR. BINGLE' YOU SAY?
His arrival brought the official start of the holiday season to New Orleans in my childhood. You see Christmas wasn’t Christmas until I saw Mr. Bingle hoisted up to fly over the front of Maison Blanche shopping center on Canal Street. This moment was so EPIC it always made front page news in the Times-Picayune & on every local TV news channel. The site of this will forever be engraved in my memory as the start of a magical season to come because Mr. Bingle 'IS & WAS' Santa’s helper here in New Orleans. JINGLE, JANGLE, JINGLE...here comes Mr. Bingle with another message from Kris Kringle.
When Maison Blanche was bought out by D.H. Holmes, now Dillards, Mr. Bingle was no longer used a part of the store's annual Christmas display. I’m happy to say Mr. Bingle now brings the spirit of old downtown Canal Street to all who see it in City Park for Christmas in the Oaks each year.
“Jingle, Jangle, Jingle, here comes Mr. Bingle…with another message from Kris Kringle. Time to launch the Christmas Season, Maison Blanche makes Christmas pleasin.’ Gifts galore for you to see, each a gem from… MB.”
By the way Mister Bingle & Maison Blanche’s initials just happen to be, MB…gotta love that!
Why is the Nola Noel series important to me?
The core of my annual Nola Noel series is the nostalgic Christmas memories made with family & friends throughout the years visiting downtown New Orleans for the holidays. After all memories are what we truly cherish for a lifetime.
Why is the Nola Noel series important to me?
The core of my annual Nola Noel series is the nostalgic Christmas memories made with family & friends throughout the years visiting downtown New Orleans for the holidays. After all memories are what we truly cherish for a lifetime.
What’s Special about this Ornament?
A handmade product lovingly created in my studio using one of my paper prints sandwiched between two pieces of 3” square glass soldered together. Each ornament is hand signed, hangs from a strap of tanned leather and comes in a labeled box with a clear lid.
