One by one in sweet succession buds open their faces to the sun. They appear with certainty each Spring possessing of some of the most admired virtues, reminding us of purity, dignity and pride. Magnolias are thought to be one of the first flowering plants to evolve on Earth making magnolias the ultimate symbol of graceful stability and perseverance through the ever changing times. Though their blooms are fleeting, their show is as wondrous as a firework’s grand finale. They may leave us as quickly as they came but the certainty of their return brings this phrase to mind…UNTIL NEXT YEAR, I'LL BE SEEIN' YAH!

I paint in an impasto style using oil paint with palette/painting knives. Painting with palette knives allow a freedom I never enjoyed with brushes. I'm drawn to New Orleans cityscapes and Louisiana landscapes. I'm inspired by the vibrant vivid colors and heavy textures achieved with this three dimensional painting style. I enjoy capturing a view that I would enjoy spending a couple of hours in front of, taking in all the flavor of my surrounding.
