Louisiana Audubon Great Heron
Great Herons average about 6 foot in length wingspan and can cruise at some 20 to 30 miles an hour. Though great blue herons hunt alone, they typically nest in colonies.
FUN FACT: They’re one of the smartest birds and have been documented sitting on the edge of a pond and carefully placing pieces of bread nearby in the water to bait prey.

I paint in an impasto style using oil paint with palette/painting knives. Painting with palette knives allow a freedom I never enjoyed with brushes. I'm drawn to New Orleans cityscapes and Louisiana landscapes. I'm inspired by the vibrant vivid colors and heavy textures achieved with this three dimensional painting style. I enjoy capturing a view that I would enjoy spending a couple of hours in front of, taking in all the flavor of my surrounding.
