Louisiana Audubon Egret

Each night before sundown egrets gather in the trees to spend the night. They gather not for nesting sites but as a night time roost done for safety and security. By day they forage alone or in mixed flocks, often by slowly walking in shallow water. They hunt standing immobile or wading through wetlands to capture fish.

FUN FACT: by standing on one leg, egrets are able to reduce by half the amount of heat lost through unfeathered limbs.
