Lilies At The Square

from $125.00

Jackson Square holds the heart of the city of New Orleans and Springtime sprouts the promise of beauty around each corner along with a message if you look close enough. Lilies are symbolic of purity, spirituality, growth, new beginnings, REBIRTH and above all HOPE. The term REBIRTH has become an anthem for the city of New Orleans and state of Louisiana in both its distant and recent history. The Battle of New Orleans changed the landscape of our entire country. Steve Gleason’s blocked punt became symbolic of New Orleans’ resilience in the face of disaster and is now immortalized as a bronze statue named “Rebirth”. Louisiana’s constant battle with Hurricanes: Katrina, Laura, Ida, just to name a few, continue to remind us of our ability to dig deep in the face of adversity allowing us to come out on the other side stronger than before. Hope is what we all need right now ,more than anything else, so let HOPE SPRING ETERNAL!

(The 1.5” depth canvas works best for hanging without framing.) CUSTOM FRAMING: Handmade floating frames created using reclaimed wood. Frames add an additional 3 inches to the overall width and height of giclee. (Floating frame for 1.5” gallery wrap giclee available upon request.)

I paint in an impasto style using oil paint with palette/painting knives. Painting with palette knives allow a freedom I never enjoyed with brushes. I'm drawn to New Orleans cityscapes and Louisiana landscapes. I'm inspired by the vibrant vivid colors and heavy textures achieved with this three dimensional painting style. I enjoy capturing a view that I would enjoy spending a couple of hours in front of, taking in all the flavor of my surrounding.
