Bloomin' Orchid

from $150.00

Orchid blooms bring to mind words like purity, elegance, beauty and charm. The purity of these orchids blooms flourishing amongst the weathered story of an aged shutter and a rustic shelf, speaks volumes to me. You see we don’t become who we are without weathering many storms and challenges. It’s the lessons we learn from those trials, errors and failures that allow us to rise above it all the next time around.

Whenever I paint flowers I immediately think of a life cycle and how we’re all connected in that cycle. It’s a reminder to celebrate the journey of life and all the small steps along the way that take us from the bud of youth to the grand finale of full bloom.

One day you’ll look back & see that you were blooming all along.

I paint in an impasto style using oil paint with palette/painting knives. Painting with palette knives allow a freedom I never enjoyed with brushes. I'm drawn to New Orleans cityscapes and Louisiana landscapes. I'm inspired by the vibrant vivid colors and heavy textures achieved with this three dimensional painting style. I enjoy capturing a view that I would enjoy spending a couple of hours in front of, taking in all the flavor of my surrounding.
