An Evening At The Saenger

from $110.00

The Jewel of Canal Street glows as a beacon welcoming everyone with its opulent old world elegance. Our collected memories are filled with magical moments of family outings, childhood wonder and of course date nights shared. The Saenger theatre first opened its doors in 1927 as a flagship theater for the Saenger Amusement Company which grew to a total of 324 Saenger theaters at its peak. Founded by two brothers who ran the family pharmacy in Shreveport, Louisiana.

It was important to me to celebrate the history along with the beauty of the Saegner. So I chose the #'s on the Streetcars for the Saenger's most important days: St. Charles Streetcar (green) - Celebrates the Grand Opening - 2-5-1927 & Canal St. Streetcar (red) - Celebrates the Grand Re-Opening - 8-27-2013. The iconic Saenger Marquee deserved something meaningful to the city along with something timeless and Tennessee Williams' "A Streetcar Named Desire" fit just perfectly. He wrote this piece in his apartment on St. Peter where he could hear the clatter of the streetcars as they made their way down the line.

ABOUT the FINE ART GICLEE: Produced from my original artwork and they are printed on high-quality archival canvas using archival inks, stretched over a .75” or 1.5” wood frame with the print image wrapping around edge of canvas and are ready to hang using the mounted picture wire. (The 1.5” depth canvas works best for hanging without framing.) The giclee is signed on the front in silver, titled/labeled/signed on the back and comes with a signed letter of authenticity should it ever need appraisal.

CUSTOM FRAMING: Handmade floating frames created using reclaimed wood. Frames add an additional 3 inches to the overall width and height of giclee.

PROCESSING TIME & SHIPPING: Giclees are made to order and are ready to ship in 1-2 weeks within the U.S.

I paint in an impasto style using oil paint with palette/painting knives. Painting with palette knives allow a freedom I never enjoyed with brushes. I'm drawn to New Orleans cityscapes and Louisiana landscapes. I'm inspired by the vibrant vivid colors and heavy textures achieved with this three dimensional painting style. I enjoy capturing a view that I would enjoy spending a couple of hours in front of, taking in all the flavor of my surrounding.
